TCG Card Care

Essential tips to help you protect your trading cards...

Always handle trading cards with clean, dry hands. Oils, dirt, and moisture from your fingers can damage the surface of the cards over time. If possible, wear cotton gloves when handling high-value or delicate cards

Both are types of trading card protective sleeves. PENNY SLEEVES are a great option for single, and possibly less valuable cards. For higher value cards add an additional layer of protection by sliding your Penny Sleeved card into a  TOP LOADER sleeve. These are semi-rigid holders that provide extra stability and prevent cards from bending or warping

For easy access and display, consider using BINDER PAGES made specifically for trading cards. Choose high-quality, acid-free pages to prevent any yellowing or degradation of the card’s material

Store in a cool, dry place as extreme temperatures and humidity can cause cards to warp, fade, or lose their value. Store your collection in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid storing cards in attics, basements, or areas with significant temperature fluctuations

Avoid stacking cards without protection and never stack cards without a protective sleeve or case in between them. Stacking cards without protection can lead to scratches, bends, or even corners getting dinged

Consider investing in a sturdy, acid-free card box for long-term storage. Card boxes with dividers can help keep your cards organized and safe. Avoid using regular boxes or containers that may not be acid-free, as this can damage the cards over time

Always keep your trading cards away from food and drink as spillages on to your cards can cause irreversible damage. Store your collection in an area away from potential spills, and always keep food and drinks away from where you’re handling cards

If a card gets dirty, clean it gently using a soft microfiber cloth. Avoid using any chemicals, as they may damage the card’s finish. For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water (never apply directly to the card) and wipe carefully

If your collection has been stored in a humid environment, check for mould. Mould can grow on cards and permanently damage them. If you spot mould, carefully remove the affected cards and clean them with a soft cloth

Periodically check the condition of your cards, especially if they are in long-term storage. Over time, it’s important to make sure the storage materials (Penny Sleeves, Top Loaders, etc.) are still protecting your cards effectively
